The Environmental Leader reports: Nearly nine in ten Americans say the words “conscious consumer” describe them well and are more likely to buy from companies that manufacture energy efficient products (90 percent), promote health and safety benefits (88 percent), support fair labor and trade practices (87 percent), and commit to environmentally friendly practices (87 percent), if products are of equal quality and price, according to the inaugural BBMG Conscious Consumer Report.
Consumer interest in green products is at an all time high. In 2007, green product purchasing was up 31 percent. When asked about future purchase behavior of products and services that are specifically “green” or environmentally friendly, 93 percent of U.S. consumers say they definitely or may purchase these products over others.
